On the 12th of January, 2017, I beat Necropolis.
Beating my first list demon felt exhilarating...I remember when I first started playing the game. Opening Bloodbath, then joking around with a childhood friend that we should try to get to 5%, or even 6%. I never took it seriously, being great in a game such as this was for somebody else. But not even a year later, I had beaten a top 40. The thought of being good felt like a pipe dream, but it was starting to become more real. Now I was interested.
5 years later, I beat my 100th list demon.
It goes without saying, but, 100 list demons is a lot. To this day, I haven't reached all of my dreams. I still long for things such as truly beating the hardest demon, something I've only ever earned by technicality. And I'm still a relatively niche player. I haven't truly had my time yet, and I would like to know how that feels just once before I head out for good. But before all of that, I never would have even considered such dreams if it weren't for the Demon List. Beating 100 list demons matters so much more to me than how I felt when I hit 100 extreme demons. Because it's not about the stats, but the experience, and the struggle. Even if it's just in my head, I have gone through so much to get to where I am today, and that struggle has changed me so much as a person that I'm truly grateful.
I haven't reached my peak yet, but being truly good at something...is special.

That's not all...

With this completion, I complete the Silent Pack. That's not something I expect most people to know about...but it's a pack of levels created by the Demon List that's made up with SARY NEVER CLEAR, Hard Machine, Thinking Space, and of course Silent Club. This pack of levels is incredibly notorious for obvious reasons; they're all levels that were once thought to be impossible and created without playability in mind. That means that pretty much every single level here is a mental gauntlet. I have suffered so much on each and every one of these levels, that at this point, it feels like I've seen everything. Finishing this pack has given me such a confidence boost that I'm truly proud of pulling this off, and now I feel like I'm capable of anything this game throws at me. Just give me some time, and I'll show you success. I'm the fourth person to do it, after SpaceUK, Cursed and Zoink. Those are all top players...I feel really cool.

And, the elephant in the room. I beat it "unnerfed". How? Orb masking. Luqualizer explained it in his verification, but basically...the level was created with these gimmick orbs in between the two spam parts at 48%. They're called orb masking, because these are orbs made up of several different kinds of orbs. To use one of the orbs grouped in, you'd have to fall into it a certain amount, and how far you fell would change the outcome of which orb you ended up using. At least, that's my understanding of it, I'm not actually sure...Either way, as the game updated and physics changed, this is no longer possible the way it was intended. Thankfully, it's still possible to break the part and do it with no fixes. If you try and use the masked orbs in the current version of the game with just one click, you'll end up with a yellow orb no matter what. But if you triple click on top of an orb (yes, triple click), you'll actually hit the yellow, pink, and then blue orbs in that order. That means that any jump momentum is cancelled out by the gravity switch, so it just acts as a blue orb. If you were wondering if you could use pink following that logic, then yes, you can double input for pink, but it's useless. Beating it this way doesn't add much to the difficulty, if at all (Honestly, with keybinds, I think it made the transition into the second spam seem easier if anything), but it's still really cool to think about how I was the first person to ever beat Silent Club in its original form, on the official servers.

Lastly...I think the level is alright. I'm heavily biased, I had just come off of Thinking Space when I beat this (I actually beat it in only 4-5 days coming back to it after Thinking Space, I procrastinated uploading this for three and a half weeks) so the bar for a decent experience was incredibly low, and of course this happened to reach that bar. At times it did feel hopeless, the idea of getting good at such a daunting part in such an unconventional way (I did the spams by alternating two keys on a keyboard as if I were playing osu!) seemed impossible, but it did pay off. Enough to do the spam twice in a row from 0, I still can't believe that. But yes, I enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you're bored of your average level and want to try something more unconventional...you could test the waters.
