Isle of Wight 2: Falling Cliffs! From Shanklin to Fin's Beach Cafe, then Bembridge - and a Mermaid!

Join us in part 2 of our Isle of Wight holiday with our T6 VW California Ocean campervan. We start in Shanklin and walk about a mile towards Sandown, where we indulge in a flat white and oat milk mocha alongside a full English and vegan full English in the sunshine at Fin's Beach Cafe.

Avoiding the closed seafront path, on the return leg, we use the cliff path which offers a different and no less spectacular vantage point. We spend the afternoon in Shanklin, and I take a walk on the beach looking for sea glass.

The next day is murky and we head to Culver Down to see the Yarborough Monument and Battery. Despite the weather, the views are still pretty good, looking out across Sandown Bay and Whitecliff Bay.

From there (briefly thwarted by a herd of cows), we head to Bembridge, where we park near the RNLI lifeboat station and have a quick wander. We move on to Duver Beach and cook up some lunch there in the Ridge Monkey, before strolling past the abandoned church of St Helen and the interesting beach huts.

On our way back, we detour via the Isle of Wight Distillery, where we stock up on their excellent Mermaid Zest gin (vegan and planet friendly).
