India Sends Strong Message to Poland on Terrorism, Kashmir and Ukraine War

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar delivered pointed opening remarks during his meeting with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, touching upon sensitive geopolitical and bilateral issues. Addressing the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar underlined that selective targeting of India’s position is both unfair and unjustified, reiterating New Delhi’s consistent and principled approach to global conflicts.

The Indian foreign minister also raised concerns over terrorism, urging Poland to adopt zero tolerance and avoid actions that could indirectly fuel terrorist infrastructure in India’s neighbourhood. This reference came in the context of Poland’s October visit to Islamabad, where Kashmir was mentioned in a joint statement with Pakistan, drawing strong objections from New Delhi.

Beyond political disagreements, Jaishankar highlighted the positive trajectory of India-Poland relations. He noted that Poland is among India’s largest trading partners in Central Europe, with bilateral trade witnessing nearly 200 percent growth over the past decade. India’s strong economic expansion, he said, offers new opportunities for Polish businesses.

Cultural ties also featured prominently, with Jaishankar pointing out the continued popularity of Indology and yoga in Poland, underscoring the depth and diversity of the bilateral relationship.
