Welcome to North Carolina! The area known as "High Country" includes the world famous Blue Ridge Parkway and the scenic mountain towns of Boone, NC, Blowing Rock, NC, and Banner Elk. Join us as we explore all that this beautiful Appalachian pitstop has to offer!
We started our weekend on the legendary Grandfather Mountain. This mountain is privately owned and requires an entrance fee, but includes access to a mile high swinging bridge, nature centers and wildlife exhibits, and our personal favorite- the Grandfather Trail Hike. This amazing and thrilling hike follows the cliffs of the mountain through ropes and ladders and features spectacular views of the entire area.
Next, we road tripped through the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the legendary Linn Cove Viaduct, play with otters in their natural habitat, and take amazing drone footage of the blue ridge mountains.
Our afternoon takes us to Wahoo's adventures in Blowing Rock, NC to tube down a scenic river and enjoy nature at it's finest.
We then made our way to downtown Boone, NC- the hometown of Appalachian State University and full of unique shops and restaurants.
Finally, we ended our day with dinner at the Dan'l Boone in for high country cooking and some of the best southern food you will find to eat- family style!
