Hubballi to Belagavi - Monsoon Sleeper Class Journey by Dadar Express

Monsoon. Sleeper Class. ICF. Diesel.

Add to this some chai, vada pav and the splendour of the western ghats, and you know you're living every Indian railfan's dream. Your dream.

This video starts from the world's longest platform at SSS Hubballi. With the station buzzing with activity as usual, we take a look at some light locomotives, some departures and then move on to our own.

Either the horn button malfunctioned, or the loco pilot was in a bad mood, because this journey was an absolute honking show throughout. The EMD roared as it accelerated to 90, and we cruised through the suburbs before sharply pulling into Dharwad.

This is all uncharted territory for me, and I'm having the time of my life, glued to my window. My coach is all but empty, but who cares? It starts raining outside and the fresh, rejuvenated greenery is a sight for sore eyes.

The curves never seem to end. Mugad flies by, and Alnavar is reached with a slight delay. The run to Londa is insignificant as far as crossings go, but that's not the point of this journey, is it?

A while after crossing Londa, we finally exit the ghats and enter the Belagavi metropolitan area. I head out to check out India's tallest flagpole, only to see there's no flag there anymore. So, tallest pole. Yay.
