Sommertraum in Falkenwalde

Im Jahre 1862 wurde in Falkenwalde (heute Sokoliniec) in Westpommern ein Palast im neogotischen Stil errichtet. Eine Parkanlage umgab das prachtvolle Gebäude des Gründers Frydryk Wilhelm Hoffmüller, auch ein Wirtschaftsgut mit Stallungen und einer Brennerei gehörten zur Anlage. Während das Gebäude den Zweiten Weltkrieg noch unbeschadet überstand und fortan als Landwirtschaftsbetrieb, Gemeinschaftsraum und Kino genutzt wurde, bedeutete der nächste Wechsel des Gesellschaftssystems seinen Untergang. 1989 stürzte es ein und wurde verwüstet, der Verkauf an einen Privateigentümer 1998 und der Eintrag in das Denkmalregister 2006 brachten keine Rettung. Es ist leicht, zu verschwenden und zu zerstören, und sehr schwer, wieder aufzubauen...
Der Wind streicht über die Felder um das beschauliche Dörfchen Sokoliniec, und wir verweilen einen Sommertag lang zwischen den Mauern des alten Palastes. Nichts kann ihn mehr retten, und nur in der Phantasie des Besuchers klingt noch einmal Lachen und Musik vergangener Feste durch die Ruine...



In 1862 a Neo-Gothic style palace was built in Falkenwalde (today Sokoliniec) in West Pomerania. A park surrounded the magnificent building of the founder Frydryk Wilhelm Hoffmüller, and an estate with stables and a distillery also belonged to the complex. While the building survived the Second World War unscathed and from then on was used as a farm, community room and cinema, the next change in the social system meant its downfall. In 1989 it collapsed and was devastated, the sale to a private owner in 1998 and the entry in the register of monuments in 2006 brought no salvation. It is easy to waste and destroy, and very difficult to rebuild...
The wind caresses the fields around the tranquil village of Sokoliniec, and we spend a summer's day between the walls of the old palace. Nothing can save it anymore, and only in the imagination of the visitor does laughter and music from past festivals ring out through the ruins again...
