We are proud to share some of the memorable moments experienced by our 21 CHP Explorers during their week-long training at the CHP Academy.

The California Highway Patrol Explorer Program is designed for young men and women between the ages of 15 and 20, providing them with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve the people of California through discipline and community service. Explorers assist the CHP both in the office and out in the field. The experience they gain is directly applicable to a future in law enforcement while helping them build relationships—with fellow Explorers, within the community, and throughout the CHP.

Explorers receive training in physical fitness, medical response, organizational procedures, and clerical work. As an Explorer, you’ll attend community service events, staff DUI checkpoints, participate in ride-alongs, and compete in Explorer competitions.
