We spent 3 days hiking the Pouakai Circuit at the base of Mt Taranaki in New Zealand. While the Pouakai Tarns draws plenty of locals and tourists, the rest of the circuit was surprisingly quiet and peaceful, with steep cliffs, muddy bush sections, and constant stunning views of Mt Taranaki.
