After several long months without a backpacking trip, it was time to get myself back out in the Michigan backcountry. I decided to take my annual trip to the Manitou Islands for a late summer getaway. I took the opportunity to explore Dimmick's point, which is normally closed most of the summer due to Piping Plover nesting.
