What is the sound of war?
The Polish pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024, curated by Marta Czyż, attempts to answer that question through “Repeat After Me II’ by Open Group, a Ukrainian collective. The installation features Ukrainian civilians displaced by the war with Russia, sharing their stories and imitating the sounds of weapons that have driven them from their homes in a haunting 'karaoke'. Czyż and Open Group’s Anton Varga joined STIR for a conversation about their work.
