Hey guys! I got another yet another classic Fremont truck from my quest during the summer of 2023 to document the remaining diesel trucks out of the RS Fremont yard.
I had wrapped up filming another 2007 WXLL Autoreach, and I was driving around the entire Wednesday collection area for two hours trying to find another WXLL Autoreach to no avail. I was just about to give up my search when I finally stumbled across Mark inside 2482. He was quite a ways behind as his truck (which no surprise, is a new Autoreach) had broken down earlier in the day, and the mechanics gave him 2482 as a replacement unit to complete his route. He was able to entertain me with the different trucks he's driven throughout his career, from BFI to Republic Services, and made mention that it'd been several years since he'd driven an Autocar WXLL. Could've easily fooled me.
As of the time of this video being made public, the yard only had two 2007 units (#2427, #2477); one WX64, and one WXLL. ALL of the other diesel Allied Waste era trucks have been scrapped as a result of the contractual obligations between the city of Fremont and Republic Services. They've ALL since been replaced with McNeilus/Oshkosh (Volterra ZSL) or Heil products, all mounted on Peterbilt 520s.
Unlike the other older trucks, this truck, as it is a spare unit, had never received any cosmetic repairs to the cab as far as new paint or stripes, so it looks quite rough for its age, especially from a nationally franchised company.
As previously stated in a previous video, this truck just screams the ineptitude of the frequently turned-over management at the RS yard for failing to preserve and maintain their trucks once they became legally bound to drop the Allied Waste name. The vinyl decals that the yard used to poorly rebrand all of their trucks back in 2017 to Republic Services are peeling and fading, revealing the former Allied Waste Services logos underneath. Being in the direct sunlight also did not help with appearances, as all of the 2007-era Autocars the yard owns (or owned) had problems with decals & paint fading, peeling and cracking. Change in management around that time had also stopped the practice of polishing and shining rims on all of the fleet's trucks, even on the newer trucks.
Special thank you to Mark for allowing me to film, giving directions, and sharing stories!
Enjoy the video!
