La Ritirata was the official march of the Italian Regia Marina Militare from 1880 to 1946; composed by maestro Tommaso Mario, the first conductor of the Armed Force’s Musical Band, it has been used by the Italian Navy since after the Second World War as a march to recall the troops in the barracks and as a marchpast on the most special and significant occasions.
