Join me on an unforgettable Chilapata Forest Safari as I finally tick this incredible destination off my travel wishlist! This is the first of three episodes detailing my April 2025 journey through the stunning Dooars region. Chilapata Forest, an integral part of Jaldapara National Park, is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, boasting sightings of magnificent creatures like the Indian Gaur, elephants, various deer species, elusive leopards, and the iconic Indian Rhino.

My Day 2 began with an early morning safari into the Chilapata Forest. We left our resort at 4:30 AM, initially concerned about the rain, which we thought would hinder our chances of spotting animals. However, as we ventured deeper into the dense forest, the rain stopped, and we were greatly relieved.
We explored the thick Chilapata forest, which reminded me of Buxa. During our safari, we visited Nal Rajar Gar and the unique Ramsupari Tree, rumored to 'bleed'. We then moved to the grasslands of Chilapata, where we finally had some exciting animal sightings! Witness my complete Chilapata safari experience in this video.
After lunch, our adventure continued as we headed to Jaldapara National Park for another safari. Although we weren't lucky enough to book a safari along the popular Hollong Route, we secured a spot for the TiTi route. The TiTi forest proved to be the most beautiful and vibrant I encountered in this area, buzzing with bird activity. Its landscape strongly resembled the Jayanti Range. Getting to Chilapata: For seamless travel, take the Sealdah - Alipurduar Kanchan kanya Express and deboard at Hasimara station. Chilapata (Mendabari) is conveniently located just 13 KM away.

Accommodation in Chilapata: While many homestays are available, I chose Elephanta Eco Stay for its unparalleled closeness to the forest, exceptional food quality, and reliable service. Expect charges around INR 1200 to 1300 per person per day, which includes accommodation and four meals.
