The Severn Valley Railway galas are well known for their overnight running and I decided it was about time I sampled this so I arrived at Kidderminster at about 3pm on the Friday and stayed up all night, leaving the railway at about 8:45 on Saturday morning. During this time I managed to ride behind 35006 P&O, 7802 Bradley Manor, 73082 Camelot, 4930 Hagley Hall, 13268 and 75069, with all of these apart from Bradley Manor featuring in this video. The majority of the overnight trains were worked by 4930 and 13268 with some very good performances from both locos to make up the delays that had accrued over the day. 35006 also gave me a very memorable run up Eardington Bank.
This video first features P&O leaving Bewdley before moving to Rifle Range to capture Camelot working up the bank to Bewdley Tunnel.
By this time it was getting fairly dark so for the next few shots I've just used the audio and put some stills over the top. The first of these audios is from a run behind 35006 accelerating away from the speed restriction at Sterns, followed by a 4930 powering away from Bewdley and through the tunnel. I then switched over to 13268's train and got more audio of the loco on Highley Bank and working away from Sterns. On 13268's next northbound run dawn was breaking so we switch back to video footage now to see the loco departing Arley and Highley. Finally, I ended my visit with a run behind 75069.
