[WR] Rayman Raving Rabbids Any% in

Mentioned it on a past video but I'll say it again here: I don't have the ability to get a timer on screen for the run because 1. My recording software is extremely simple, 2. I don't have any knowledge of post-edits, 3. it makes me nervous.

Always figured a 1:24 was theoretically possible. It didn't even feel that great in the beginning, but I pulled through and got near perfect RNG on the later minigames (except for Rhythm 2 I have no idea what happened there, that timeloss is so cringe and could have been lessened if my brain wasn't fried) and played well through the hardest days. Since I never really agreed with the RTA timing for this game, (I lose time RTA to worse hardware) I was always aiming for a 1:23 with loads removed, so it's really nice to actually get that. 420+ hours to get here, 800+ in total playtime.

Day 2 - 7:08 - just ok (Best 7:01)
Day 3 - 4:01 (Best: 4:00)
Day 4 - 4:03 - failed the good rng cuz i'm dumb (Best 3:55)
Day 5 - 7:29 - missed a fast cycle, slow memory + plunger (Best 7:19)
Day 6 - 3:32 - super slow here (Best 3:26)
Day 7 - 7:26 - my worst day in terms of gameplay, awful STR2 and plunger (Best 7:14)
Day 8 - 6:01 (Best 5:55)
Day 9 - 3:19 (Best 3:18)
Day 10 - 7:42 (new best)
Day 11 - 6:40 (tied best)
Day 12 - 3:53 (best in a full attempt, bad bowling but good slide2 + bowling-B rng)
Day 13 - 6:58 (new best)
Day 14 - 4:11 (new best)
Day 15 - 7:21 (Im just unable to get good Day 15s ig, last time was a horrible plunger game, this time I get extremely rare RNG that loses 12 seconds. For the record, I've played this minigame hundreds of times and have literally never gotten RNG this horrendous, literally anybody can get sub-30 here 99% of times. It's like the game wants me to keep playing this stupid category, knowing that this one mistake will irritate me until I get a run without it)

my SOB is somewhere between 1:23:23 - 1:23:30, I never saved the accurate miliseconds.

Easiest timesaves are in Day 7 and 15. Days 2,4,5,6 only have RNG timesaves, which is really weird since it's usually the second half that has bad RNG. I actually almost reset after my mistake on 4, and maybe I should have because this was the worst beginning i've had in weeks.


This is my 4th finished run. - 1:27:20 - 1:27:25 - 1:25:53 - 1:24:37. No major glitches ever used, this is fundamentally one of the most basic speedruns ever and should stay that way. Category has been the same for 11 years and shouldn't have major changes.


btw the clicking around at the end is either for verification or filling time I frankly can't remember since i finished this run at like 4:00 am. I was nervous for like the last 30 minutes but didn't feel any excitement when it was finished, which is surprisingly disappointing. I think this game destroys your brain so much that any success doesn't evoke a feeling. I had also just gotten the worst ever Rhythm2 so it didn't even feel that good in the end.


time losses:
d4 - 6s to not failing good rng
d5 - 5s to 4c peek-a-boo, few s to memory
d6 - 6s to fast anatomy
d7 - 10s to normal STR2 and decent plunger game
Extremely weak first half - 55:30 (best is 55:16)

d12 - 8s to 1c bowling
d13 - 8s to str3, few s to memory
d15 - 10s to normal rhythm2 (literally could have saved 5 seconds to just going for red why did I make myself lose whyyyyyyyy)
Slightly better second half - 29:07 (unoptimized, but currently best)

a 1:23 would probably look like a 55:10 + a 28:49 which would require some crazy luck.

Day 4: 4s on Bats, 3s on Maze, rest on plunger game (1'57)
Day 9: New Music Strat, Cleaner gameplay
Day 10: Perfect Pigs, Great Plunger Game (5'15)
Day 12: Faster RNG
Day 13: 13s on STR3, Amazing Plunger Game (4'35)
Day 15: Great Plunger Game (4'11)

There is also another 15 or so seconds I saved from better menu movement. So this 1:16 overall timesave really isn't that insane.

Anyways, this puts me really close to finishing up this game and likewise the content on this channel. Would be nice to get a new highscore on the Rayman challenge before I'm done, but I just wanted to thank the few of you who comment and watch my stuff, I really appreciate it. I'm not able to create a real community around this game yet but I'm hoping more people recognize that the base game and its score mode are extremely interesting in themselves, and that any% and 100% are just gimmick categories that have no real connection to the game.
