This video describes the method used at the JRC to test real structures to earthquakes, using the so-called Reaction Wall.
Such full-scale experiments provide a precise insight at what would occur to a given structure during an earthquake without the need to wait for it to happen. These tests help scientists to improve numerical models, design new solutions for the future and contribute to European guidelines and standards for the construction sector.
