In full: Chancellor Rishi Sunak gives press conference as jobs rescue plan announced

Rishi Sunak holds a press conference in Downing Street after he announced his Winter Economic Plan.

The Government will top up the salaries of people working on reduced hours by as much as two-thirds, Rishi Sunak has confirmed today, as part of the next "evolution" in the financial support.

The Jobs Support Scheme (JSS) will replace the furlough scheme, which will be wound down next month. Under the new scheme staff will be paid by their employer for working at least a third of their usual hours, with the Government topping up the remaining two-thirds of their salary.
