The distributive law for expanding brackets can confuse a lot of students, so in this video I teach the concept through the lens of the area of rectangles. The area of rectangles is a simple concept for year 9 students (and even years below) so applying it to a more tricky algebraic problem is a very handy tool. I hope this video helps you understand how to expand brackets, in particular focusing on the importance of distributing the lead term to EVERY term inside the brackets, not just the first.
