This place is very close to Piraeus port, next to the sea and forged from the archives of the fertilizer company. In this area, buildings of great strength and functionality have been constructed. More specifically, the Greek Chemical Products and Fertilizers Company included 8 different production units. The Greek Chemical Products and Fertilizers Company. It was founded in 1909 in the uninhabited area west of the port of Piraeus. The company's purpose was to produce and trade acid fertilizers and chemical products in general. After the end of the First World War, the company's growth was rapid. Thus, the 200 national workers started to number two and a half thousand, while in the 1950s they exceeded three and a half thousand.
After 1970, the factory fell into long-term disuse due to internal problems of the company, reduction in agricultural production, changes in business taxation and the overall phenomenon of the deindustrialization of the Greek economy. It was finally closed in 1993.
The projects of this place have begun in 2015 during the mayoralty of Christos Vrettakos and were completed in 2017, acting with minimal funds and the same forces. A model tax on walks and activities.
The Central Council of Monuments Ekrina is preserved in a few of the 109 buildings of the fertilizer company. These will be an energy unit. The January complex with the Association and the chimney, the slaughterhouse building, the Water Tower, the Institute of Chemistry, as well as the Krakari Motorway.
The silo with the building of the composition with the huge chimney. However, they formed a single unit. It was part of the glass factory of the fertilizer company. This building was made of concrete with 8 twin hoppers with a capacity of 500 tons and was the main storage and feeding unit. Through its mechanical safety equipment for the feeding and transportation of the first batches to the composition building, the proportions of the first batches were cleaned before being transferred to the glassworks in order for production to begin.
The creation of glassworks began in 1912 and was completed in 1914 for the manufacture of packaging rims of the sides with a vertical production. At the same time, after 1922 the unit produces bottles of daily white glass and glass panels. Glassworks very quickly they exceeded the initial production targets, taking one of the first places in the world rankings, decades that followed production, continued at high levels, while the mechanical equipment was renewed, following technological changes. It ceased operation in the early 1990s.
The red-white enormous was part of the building of the composition, which no longer exists because it has been demolished. The height of the chimney exceeds 120 m.
A conveyor belt located on the Krakari Breakwater for drinking products from fertilizer factories was 200 meters long with 2 pillars and 2 cantilevers with a loading capacity of 140 tons of cargo per hour. Minced meat or 30-40 tons in a bag, the conveyor belt was not demolished in 2003, but at the same time it was not deemed worthy of preservation as a monument in 2017 along with the Krakari breakwater by the Central Council of Modern Monuments, despite the declaration, as it remains abandoned and dilapidated. I know that in July 2019 part of it was demolished by the builder.
The storage areas of the company's creatures were an important part of the facilities and had to meet specific specifications depending on the raw materials stored in them. Sand, soda, dolomite, and nepheline were some of the first series stored there.
With the closure of the factory, hundreds of workers were left unemployed, while the facilities were transferred to the National Bank of Greece due to the company's debts. Most of these buildings were demolished in 2003, several years after the company closed.
The park features a pedestrian and bicycle path, playgrounds, 3 theaters, and refreshment stands. In addition, the area hosts important cultural and musical events.
