In Pittsburgh’s historic Hill District, Ujamaa Collective is weaving African-centered culture, creativity, and cooperation into the fabric of community life.
As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, we recorded Let's Rise, a series of 14 short videos with Emmy-winning filmmaker Kelly Dessoye. They beautifully capture the work of some of our amazing partners across the state. They were scheduled for release in the spring of 2025, but when funding cuts threatened our future, we put them on hold.
We’re proud to finally share these inspiring stories of strength, hope, and resilience. They are proof that, despite the ongoing challenges, the humanities in Pennsylvania are thriving and making a tremendous impact in the lives of everyday people.
This video series was made possible with the generous support of Tom Hagen.
