After getting the taper attachment dialed in where we want it, it's now time to turn the shaft. I use a 5C collet chuck in the 4 jaw chuck to hold the shaft for turning, and proceed to make some light passes to ensure the op is going to perform the way I want it. We use flood coolant to keep the work piece and the tool cool and lubricated.
