Grain mode is a lo-fi mode in between extreme multi tap delays and wild, modulated reverb. The mod knob seems to control this behavior; stereo with defined echoes below midway, and mono with diffused reverberations above.
It's a wild mode and can sound like there's feedback going on at times. Ghastly, otherworldly reverb tones can be had a plenty.
The hold functions don't work very well for this mode IMO, as the frozen signal just sounds like ghost noises. It's cool, but I don't find much use for it.
I'm running a Fender Player HH telecaster into:
//Digitech Whammy DT (dry+octaves up/down)
Durham Sexdrive
//Chase Bliss Dark World (broken lo-fi reverb)
Wampler Euphoria
//Empress Echosystem (shimmery reverse delays)
Line 6 HX Stomp (Deluxe vibrato model)
Red Panda Context v2
Strymon Iridium (cab IR and room sim)
