What an achievment for the 'Colliery Line' and all the volunteers who managed to stretch this worthy celebration over an incredible nine days.
(Is that a record in the heritage railway sector?). Running a normal passenger service combined with frequent mineral trains throughout was no mean feat for my friends at CW and as always it was a pleasure to catch up with so many of them as well as some new faces. Well done to you all!!
The major attraction of course was the presence of (D) 9551, the Class 14 'Teddy Bear' kindly loaned by the SVR Class 14 Company Ltd. Built at Swindon and entering BR service in 1965 she only had a three year working life (at Cardiff & Hull) being withdrawn in 1965 to continue working with the British Steel Corporation.
