Well today was a wild one, I fished the Ballanaleck side of the River Erne hoping that the marina would provide some shelter from Storm Hannah, it didn't.
I was having to throw a 50g feeders to cut through the wind and even then the wind was pushing the feeder all over the place, so accuracy was impossible hitting the clip was easy but where your aiming and where you'd land is any man's guess.
I fed a kilo of Sensas Explosive Feeder mixed with a kilo of Dynamite baits Frenzied Hemp black, bait wise I was there with caster, red maggot, worm and a corn and hemp mixture. Hookbaits mostly red maggot on a size 12, N-50 Preston Innovations hook tied to 0.25mm Guru Fluorocarbon on a 3ft hooklegnth.
I've also swapped out the Guru Feeder Braid for some new stuff fishing on the Erne is brutal on your fishing tackle, the zebra mussels destroy mainlines. Even when I'm Pike fishing with 50lb braid I have to check that it's not damaged by these mussels so much much lighter braids designed for feeder fishing dosent really stand a chance, its why I have to use a mono 8lb to 40lb tapered leader as a shock leader (the leader is trimmed down there's no actual 40lb mono being used as a shock leader).
Still not a bad day I got some fresh air had a pick nick in the van and I enjoyed a cigar.
