My favorite time to divide aloe vera plants is in winter. There’s more time for it, and it’s a good garden job to do in the kitchen or outside, under cover.
Healthy aloe vera plants can produce flushes of pups every year. The plants can get congested, so it's best to divide them.
Pups are offshoots - tiny clones of the main plant - that can grow to full size if you transplant them.
Just wait until the pups are big enough, and don't water the plants within a week of dividing. It's best not to water directly after planting, either.
Then, gently but firmly pull the pups from the main plant. Some may require cutting away, but most shouldn’t need it.
After that, you pot them up and leave the plants in a bright place while they settle in.
