The story is inspired by munshi prem chand's do bailon ki katha. Jhuri (balraj sahni) and razia (nirupa roy) used to pay their tax on time but they came into the zamindar's trap when their bulls heera and moti won the bull race against the zamindar's bulls. In order to take revenge he cheated jhuri and asked for heera moti whom the family was not ready to hand over. Matters deteriorated so much that their land was auctioned. Even the bulls heera and moti were auctioned. Soon the villagers also started protesting against the injustice and finally heera and moti were returned duly to their owners
