In this episode we will cover what is delta T (dT) in heat pump systems and why it's important to have a dT of 5 ˚C.
The compressor is most efficient when it's going on a dT of 5 ˚C. However, if you set up some set point in your system, for example, 40 ˚C, your compressor will not go fast to achieve this 40 ˚C. It will always measure what is return pipe and always try to catch up with dT of 5 ˚C. In condensing gas boiler, this dT between flow and return temperature is 20 ˚C. This is due to technology. This technology is at 20 ˚C. But in heat pump systems, dT of 5 ˚C is the most efficient.
For some systems, a higher dT of 7 ˚C or even lower (3-4 ˚C) is the best option - anyone has better experience with higher/lower dT?
