FreeBSD used ZFS for filesystem. ZFS is an advanced file system designed to solve major problems found in previous storage subsystem software.
Originally developed at Sun™, ongoing open source ZFS development has moved to the OpenZFS Project.
Mounting ZFS is very easy. No need to create fstab, just set the mount point and there you go.
I prefer ZFS because it has continuous integrity verification and automatic “self-healing” repair compared to UFS that must repair manually with fsck command e.g. in case of power outage.
