Although this is the FIRST video podcast, it is actually episode 8 for season 1.
My guest this week is fellow podcaster Sandra Flach.
Sandra Flach is mom of 8 children, 5 through adoption—2 diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. She encourages and equips foster and adoptive parents through her weekly Adoption & Foster Care Journey Podcast and blogs at SandraFlach.com. She is a certified facilitator of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model, teaches FASD workshops, and co-leads the Hope for the FASD Journey online support community. Sandra is co-founder of Justice For Orphans and author of Orphans No More—A Journey Back to the Father. She and her husband Wayne have been married 36 years. They reside in upstate NY where they love to spend time with family, especially their 8 grand children.
You can follow Sandra on her weekly podcast: The Adoption & Foster Care Journey.
In this episode, we talk about her family's journey, from getting a diagnosis for her kids to the adaptations she and Wayne have had to make as her children transition to adulthood, and how it can be helpful to think of interdependence rather than independence.
While you're here, check out any of my Free Friday Tidbit content, each week presenting another aspect of the neurobehaivoral model which can help explain the struggles of those living with FASD or other brain-based condition, regardless if a diagnosis has been made.
