Deltarune is an official spin-off successor to Undertale, the cult-classic hit RPG! The game expands on the systems in Undertale — such as adding Party Members, a magic system, and the tired system — and features new characters, music, and adventures. Join Kris, Susie and Ralsei as they explore the Dark World, fighting and befriending Darkners on a quest to restore balance to Light and Dark, then return home to Hometown with the other Lightners.
Deltarune Chapter 1 was released in October 2018, with additional chapters promised for future release. Chapter 2 was released in September 2021, with a menu indicating that there will be a total of seven chapters. Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 were released on June 4, 2025, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version launching with the console on June 5. Chapter 5 is set to release in 2026, while Chapters 6 and 7 currently have no release date.

The 2nd Sanctuary is a major location in Chapter 4 of Deltarune. It is one of the Dark Sanctuaries and an alternate version of the Dark Sanctuary. The sanctuary's Dark Fountain was opened inside the Church by Susie in an attempt to return to the Dark Sanctuary after Kris had sealed its Fountain.

The first thing that immediately stands out after entering the 2nd Sanctuary is the lighting, with all the hues having been shifted towards red. The Sanctuary appears broken or mirrored, with the party walking on walls or the ceiling in some rooms. The background also looks irregular, with the towers in it having been rotated in ways that don't seem to align with normal geometry, along with stained glass windows having a heavy filter and being duplicated diagonally down. In the console versions, the border has the same changes, being a flipped/rotated version of the Dark Sanctuary border.
