The elections and democracy community prepared for a number of threats to this year’s election. Some of those threats materialized, but others seemed to amount to very little. Were threats overhyped, or did the hard work of the community successfully neutralize them? Can we put these threats to bed, or do we need to remain vigilant in this cycle and in future cycles? Panelists explored these questions and discussed strategies to prepare for potential future crises.
Panelists:
Jennifer Morrell | CEO and Co-Founder, The Elections Group
Richard H. Pildes | Sudler Family Professor of Constitutional Law, NYU School of Law
Katie Harbath | CEO, Anchor Change and Chief Global Affairs Officer, Duco Experts
Moderated by Will Adler | Associate Director, BPC Elections Project
Lightning talks:
Carah Ong Whaley, VP for Election Protection at Issue One, and Claire Woodall-Vogg, fmr. Executive Director of the City of Milwaukee Election Commission, discussed the election information ecosystem.
Katie Reisner, Program Director for Public Safety & Elections at States United Democracy Center, discussed the organization’s work to boost safety for election officials and the public.
These presentations were part of BPC’s 2024 Elections Summit, which convened diverse stakeholders to reflect on the 2024 election cycle and chart a path ahead for strengthening U.S. elections. Learn more at https://bipartisanpolicy.org/election...
