In the fall of 2016, third-year medical student and I-Health alumna Ari Pence launched the THRIVE mentoring program to help build a bridge between current and aspiring medical students. The program paired 80 University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign undergraduates who have aspirations to join the medical profession with first-year medical student mentors, and both groups reaped the benefits of the program.
