C’est l’univers de la Commedia dell’arte (Pulcinella), de Don Quichotte (Les Tréteaux de maître Pierre) et de l’Espagne picaresque (Concerto pour clavecin) qu’évoquent les trois œuvres réunies dans ce disque. Attentifs à la narration, la couleur, le rythme et l’humour, le Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Pablo Heras-Casado et Benjamin Alard, sur un somptueux clavecin Pleyel, nous convient à un joyeux feu d’artifices.
The three works on this CD evoke the worlds of commedia dell’arte (Pulcinella), Don Quixote (El retablo de maese Pedro) and picaresque Spain (the Harpsichord Concerto). Telling their stories with colour, rhythm and humour, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Pablo Heras-Casado and Benjamin Alard (playing a sumptuous Pleyel harpsichord) invite us to an exhilarating fireworks display.
