Garage to Home Cinema Conversion | Zebra Home Cinema Legacy Project (2019)

This video documents a significant milestone for Zebra Home Cinema — our first ever completed home cinema, delivered in 2019.

While this project dates back to the early days of the business, it represents the foundations of our cinema design philosophy: immersive sound, cinematic scale, discreet integration, and spaces designed to be lived in, not just showcased.

The room began life as a standard garage and was transformed into a dedicated Dolby Atmos home cinema, designed for film viewing, console gaming, and everyday use within a residential environment.

Audio System

The cinema features a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos speaker configuration from M&K Sound, delivering precise surround imaging, strong dynamics, and controlled low-frequency performance.

Two 10-inch subwoofers were discreetly recessed in-wall, preserving floor space while maintaining impact and bass control.

Audio processing and amplification are handled by the Anthem MRX 1140 AVR, selected for its room correction capabilities, reliability, and cinema-grade performance.

Video & Gaming

Visuals are delivered via an Epson 9400 Pro-UHD projector, chosen for its contrast performance and cinematic presentation in a light-controlled environment.

For gaming, a PlayStation 5 is concealed beneath the seating, allowing the room to function as both a high-end cinema and an immersive gaming space without visual clutter.

Control, Lighting & Automation

The entire room is integrated with Control4, providing intuitive control of:
• Audio-visual systems
• Lighting scenes
• HVAC and climate management

The lighting scheme uses dimmable RGB LED lighting, enabling the room to transition between pre-show ambience, cinema mode, and gaming scenarios at the touch of a button.

Although completed in 2019, this cinema demonstrates:
• Early adoption of immersive audio formats
• A design-led approach that continues to inform our work today
• Long-standing experience in dedicated home cinema design
