A Jewish- and Israeli-owned business in Baltimore County was the target of an antisemitic attack on Wednesday night.
On August 6, Kitchen Design by Idan, located in the 6000 block of Falls Road in Baltimore, was vandalized.
Surveillance footage captured a man approaching the storefront around midnight and throwing red paint across the walkway, entrance, and both the Israeli and American flags.
Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD) confirmed that they found the vandalism upon arrival.
The Baltimore Zionist District (BZD) has condemned the act, calling it a "calculated, targeted, and hate-fueled" attack.
"This was not just vandalism — this was a hate crime. A Jewish-owned business in Baltimore was deliberately targeted, and we are demanding that local and state leaders treat it with the urgency it deserves. Antisemitism is rising, and silence is complicity. We expect public condemnation, a full investigation, and accountability," said Caren Leven, Executive Director of the BZD.
Kitchen Design by Idan was all cleaned up and new Israeli flags placed outside.
“Idan is a very strong person,” Leven added. “As you can see, everything is cleaned up. There are always flags to put up.”
This is not the first time Kitchen Design by Idan has been targeted. The store’s display of Israeli flags has made it a repeated victim of antisemitic attacks.
The owner, Idan, reaffirmed his determination to remain visible and resilient when FOX45 interviewed him in May 2024; right after another hate crime on his store.
“I am not going to stopI am here to stay,” he said in a previous interview. “I am American, Israeli, Jewish, and they can't take it away from me, no matter how hard they try."
Baltimore County Councilman Izzy Patoka, who is Jewish and represents District 2, called the vandalism deeply personal.
“With antisemitism, it stems from this polarization—we can’t talk to one another,” Patoka said. “We have to start off with dialogue.”
Patoka said he regularly coordinates with the Pikesville precinct due to the high concentration of Jewish residents in the district.
“We’ve been victimized as a community on numerous occasions,” he said. “Even if you think nothing will happen, it’s really important to report it.”
Despite the damage, Kitchen Design by Idan plans to reopen Friday.
A thank-you note was taped to the front door Thursday afternoon. In it, Idan expressed gratitude to his customers for their continued support after yet another hate crime.
BCPD said they have been in contact with local organizations within the Jewish community to address potential concerns and to ensure open lines of communication.
