How Andrew Carnegie Became the World's Richest Man

Andrew Carnegie was born to a poor family in Scotland, who were looking to seek a better life for themselves in America. Little did they know just how far Andrew could go. From working in a factory at the age of 12 for just $1.20 cents per week, taking advantage of every opportunity set before him, setting up the Carnegie Steel Corporation before becoming the wealthiest man in the world at the age of 64. From there, it was a race to give as much of it away as possible. In a time of industrialists vying for as much wealth as they could get their hands on, Andrew Carnegie, was able to have an unprecedented rise to the top. But even having come from a poor background and seeing the hardships it could put a family through, he was not immune from controversy, as his rigorous cost-cutting tactics would lead to one of the deadliest strikes in US history.
