San Diego's Historic Citywide Garbage Can Roll In

Last week was the roll out video, now time for the roll in one! I'll try to get a couple roll in videos focusing on different cart brands. To kick things off, here's a bunch of Toters being rolled in.

Last week, San Diego began the monthslong process of rolling in 950,000 carts, starting with trash. This area just off of Adams Avenue on Mountain View was packed full of cart variety where you could find just about every cart San Diego ever purchased including standard Rehrigs to Ottos, Zarns and rare Toters, aging from the late 1990s all the way up to just a few months old. Due to the size and complexity of the roll in, three different companies are performing it including Suncorp Logistics, Curbside and the well known AD&S. It’s super hard work with crews picking up thousands of carts a day, each weighing at least 30 pounds, working anywhere from 12-20 hour each day, 6 days a week, but this crew made it look easy!

After the trucks pack out, they drive to Miramar Yard and unload. Semi trucks then come in and take the old containers to a recycle plant where they are shredded and recycled.
