i-D Meets...Violet Chachki. Whether they're fishy queens, comedy queens, pageant queens or genderfuck, the art of drag has long provoked interesting and necessary discussions around gay culture, gender binaries and passing privilege. But Ru Paul's Drag Race has taken the art form to prime time, as would-be queens Statewide finesse their drag style and compete in challenges to become America's Next Drag Superstar. One of the most standout queens in Drag Race History is Season 7 winner Violet Chachki who with her burlesque styling, flawless beauty and incredible talent as an aerial artist is elevating what drag can be and what drag will become; and at just 23 years old is already one of drag's most legendary children.
