After three years and countless hours spent patrolling the Capitol Complex to keep the streets safe, we are saying a special thank you to Grizzly—a member of the DPS Capitol Region’s Mounted Horse Patrol Unit (MHPU).
Grizzly—a Clydesdale born in 2018 who stands nearly 19 hands tall and weighs about 1,900 pounds—is the youngest member of MHPU. He is known for his great manners and top-tier service, but also for his mischievous nature, close friendships with fellow patrol horses and his ability to turn almost anything into a toy. It’s no wonder he was so well liked by all who had the privilege of working alongside him these last few years, including his partner, Sgt. Jessica Springer.
