Stately Oaks Plantation is a Greek Revival Antebellum mansion located in Margaret Mitchell Memorial Park in Jonsboro, Georgia. Built in 1839, the house was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1972. It is also known as Orr House, The Oaks, and Robert McCord House. This "Plantation House" is said to have been the inspiration for "Tara" in the novel, Gone with the Wind and Hollywood movie. The park consists of the Fitzgerald kitchen fireplace, the "McCord's" separate "cabin" kitchen that is associated with the slave "Lucy" who is said to be the inspiration for "Prissy" in the novel. The area also includes "Juddy's" old country store, an old schoolhouse, and structures relocated here from Clayton County and surrounding areas for preservation.
