The story begins with Preah Thong, a prince from the Kingdom of Funan, who embarks on a journey that leads him to the shores of a beautiful kingdom located under the waters. Enchanted by the beauty of the land, he encounters Neang Neak, a graceful serpent princess and the daughter of the King of the Nagas (serpent beings).
Despite being from two different worlds, Preah Thong and Neang Neak fall deeply in love. However, their love is challenged by cosmic forces, as the underwater kingdom of Neang Neak is heavily guarded. To unite, they must overcome obstacles and prove their love.
Preah Thong and Neang Neak devise a plan. Preah Thong promises to return to the land above and then be with her forever. He is given a magical flower by Neang Neak, which allows him to remember her and the profound love they share. The two decide to hold a grand ceremony, symbolizing their union, which fuses elements of both their cultures.
