जब लक्ष्मण को सकती लगी थी उस समय हनुमान जी जिस पर्वत को लेके आये और जब लक्ष्मण जी के ठीक होने के बाद, हनुमान पर्वत को उसके मूल स्थान पर रखने के लिए वापस जा रहे थे तब । उन्होंने कुछ समय के लिए जाखा पहाड़ी की चोटी पर विश्राम किया। कहा जाता है कि हनुमान के वजन से पहाड़ी की चोटी चपटी हो गयी थी! यह मंदिर उस स्थान के चारों ओर बनाया गया है जिसके बारे में माना जाता है कि यहां हनुमान के पैरों के निशान हैं।

In English:
Hanuman ji brought the mountain when Lakshman had suffered a stroke and after Lakshman ji recovered, Hanuman was going back to place the mountain at its original place. He rested for some time on the top of Jakha hill. It is said that the top of the hill was flattened due to the weight of Hanuman! This temple is built around the spot which is believed to contain the footprints of Hanuman.
