Lock up your children… Save Them From This Movie...🎃 An Off The Couch Review
In this Hocus Pocus 2 movie review, I’m finally sitting down to talk about the sequel Disney dropped in 2022 — and yeah, I know I’m a few years late. But I watched it this year after my daughter fell in love with the original, and I had to speak up.
I’m a huge fan of Hocus Pocus (1993) — not because I’m obsessed with witches, but because it’s one of the best Halloween movies ever made in terms of spirit, charm, and pure seasonal magic. It’s October comfort food. It’s tradition. It’s the vibe.
But Hocus Pocus 2?
For me, it completely kills the magic of the original.
In this review, I break down why the sequel didn’t work for me — including
weak story logic, cringe humor, forgettable new leads, and the way the Sanderson Sisters lose their menace and become more of a self-aware parody than iconic Halloween villains. I also talk about what the film could’ve done with characters like Zachary Binx and the missing elements that made the first one feel so alive.
This isn’t hate for the sake of hate.
I love movies, I love Halloween, and I love the original.
That’s why this one stings.
