ಕಸಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆ ಎಂದರೆ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳ ಭಾಗಗಳನ್ನು (ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ ಕೊಂಬೆ ಅಥವಾ ಮೊಗ್ಗು) ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸಸ್ಯದ ಬುಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೋಡಿಸಿ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಒಂದು ಕೃಷಿ ತಂತ್ರ. ಇದು ಸಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು, ರೋಗನಿರೋಧಕ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲು, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಹವಾಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಸಲು ಅಥವಾ ಶೀಘ್ರ ಫಲ ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. 

ಕಸಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆಯ ಉದ್ದೇಶಗಳು:

ಸಸ್ಯವರ್ಧನೆ: ಕಸಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಸಸ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಬಹುದು. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಪೋಟ ಹಣ್ಣು ಮರಗಳು ಬೀಜದಿಂದ ಬೆಳೆದ ಗಿಡಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ಫಲ ನೀಡುತ್ತವೆ.

ರೋಗನಿರೋಧಕತೆ: ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಹವಾಗುಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಮತ್ತು ರೋಗಗಳಿಗೆ ನಿರೋಧಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯುಳ್ಳ ತಳಿ ಮೇಲೆ ಇತರ ತಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಉತ್ತಮ ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಬಹುದು. ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ಗಜನಿಂಬೆ ತಳಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಿತ್ತಳೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಡೈ ಬ್ಯಾಕ್ ರೋಗವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯಬಹುದು.

ಬಲವರ್ಧನೆ: ನಿರ್ಬಲ ತಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಲವಾದ ತಳಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಅವು ಬಲಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. 

ಕಸಿ ಕಟ್ಟುವಿಕೆಯ ವಿಧಾನಗಳು:

ಕಣ್ಣು ಕಸಿ (Bidding): ಇದು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಲಭ ವಿಧಾನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಸ್ಯದ ಚಿಗುರಿನ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು (ಮೊಗ್ಗು) ತೆಗೆದು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸಸ್ಯದ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೋಡಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ತಂಪು ಮತ್ತು ಮೋಡದ ವಾತಾವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡುವುದು ಉತ್ತಮ.

ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡುವ ಕೊಂಬೆ (Grafting): ಇದು ಒಂದು ಕಸಿಕೊಂಬೆಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಸಸ್ಯದ ತಳಿ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೋಡಿಸುವ ವಿಧಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸೇತುವೆ ಕಸಿ (Bridge Grafting): ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡ ಸಸ್ಯದ ಭಾಗಗಳನ್ನು ಒಗ್ಗೂಡಿಸಲು ಬಳಸುವ ವಿಧಾನ ಇದು. 

Grafting is a horticultural technique where tissues of two or more plants are joined so they can grow together as a single plant. It involves attaching a scion (the upper part of the new plant) to a rootstock (the lower part with the roots). This method is used in agriculture to combine desirable traits, improve disease resistance, control plant size, or propagate plants that are difficult to grow from seed. 

How it works

Joining parts: 

A cutting or bud from one plant (the scion) is attached to the root system of another (the rootstock). 

Cambium Layer: 

For a successful graft, the cambium, or vascular tissue, of both the scion and rootstock must be aligned and make contact. This allows the tissues to heal and grow together. 

Combined growth: 

After the union is established, the rootstock provides the root system, while the scion produces the leaves, flowers, and fruits. The two parts function as one plant.
