We Should Let the CHOSEN ONE Die

I'm back with my first video essay since my July break! This time around, I'm honing in on a single trope that I mentioned in my "Tropes I Hate" video a few months back. Specifically, I want to talk about the Chosen One Trope. I'll discuss what it is, why I hate it, what I think can be done to improve it, and so on.

Is there still a market for the Chosen One tropes in fantasy and science fiction novels? Should authors even bother writing stories with this trope? Is there a way to breathe new life into it? Can it be subverted in a unique and exceptional way? I'll discuss all of that for authors and readers alike in this quick breakdown of why I hate the Chosen One trope (and why I think we should just let it die).
