Martha Graham was an American modern dancer, choreographer,
and contemporary of Mr. Wayne's teacher, Agnes DeMille.
She was a pioneer, and in her seventy years of dancing performed
at the White House, traveled the world as a cultural ambassador,
and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This edited video
is of a work from 1947, "Night Journey". For this dance, Graham
used music by William Schuman; we are using a George and Ira
Gershwin a cappella medley by a group called GLAD.
