In the winter of 2016 I dug this 1985 CUCV M1028 dubbed "EFFIE" out of a snow bank in the mountains of Utah where I grew up. It is equipped with a Dana 60 in the front and a Corporate 14 bolt in the rear both with limited slip. I originally got the truck to part out but once I had it I couldn't let it die in the scrap yard. It was too cool and had so much character that i decided to build it into an offroad machine.
I started by removing the monster leaf spring pack in the rear that was on it for hauling a large shelter like camper on the back. I removed all but 3 or 4 leaf springs and installed a shackle flip from DIY4x. In the front I removed the factory leaf springs and swapped in a set of 56" leaf springs from the rear of a k5 blazer with brackets also from DIY4x. the front brackets allowed me to move that axle forward 1" for better approach. I installed crossover/high steer steering kit as well as a low profile engine crossmember from Ryan Agan at Agan Fabworks. After all the suspension work the truck gained about 5" lift and a TON of flex and also ride unbelievably well for a leaf spring truck. I added some 37" Mastercraft mud terrain tires and hit the trails!
Thanks for watching. Subscribe if you are new!
