Kamasi Washington (born February 18, 1981 in Los Angeles) is an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He plays in a distinctive style reminiscent of the mid-1960s free jazz of John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, and Albert Ayler. He is a founding member of the jazz collective "West Coast Get Down." His 2015 debut album, The Epic, was considered groundbreaking.
