Oregon Inlet is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous inlets in the world, so this is justified clickbait. In the small boats I fish from, I am only around on the "nice" days, and event that gets scary at times. There is a reason the recreational fishing pressure there is fairly low compared to the rest of North Carolina.
The spring cobia migration off of North Carolina is an extremely short window. Couple that with a need for both calm seas and good sun in order to have success, and you have a tough task to accomplish. While the weather in the Outer Banks is usually less than ideal, the fishing you can have when things do work out makes it all worthwhile. We boated 15 cobia this day and had opportunities at plenty more. We didn't actually think we were going to get to fish this day because of the forecast, but the less than ideal forecast is the reason why we ended up having all of these fish to ourselves.
