Notice that Addison did not roll to float before swimming back to the wall. She didn't need to do so. This is why we usually "throw" the kids much farther away from the wall. Then they HAVE TO roll-over for breath recovery. BUT... actually, the way Addison was tested was more like a REAL-LIFE fall into a pool.
This brings to mind that if we do "throw" the kids far away from the wall, we need to explain the reason to the parents. If they can survive that type of survival test, which is far more challenging that a simple fall, then they really are great swimmers.
